Position Summary

The Sales Application Engineer (AE) is the support arm of the sales team, working as the technical support resource throughout the sales process. The AE performs a hybrid role of pre-sales engineer, cost estimator, and quote content creation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Application Engineering:
    • Make customer site survey visit, as needed, to confirm needs, fit, function, and constraints.
    • Review customer specs and documents to determine scope of project supply.
    • Perform equipment sizing calculations like conveyor speed and loading calculations.
    • Use AutoCAD to generate pre-sale Conceptual Layout Drawings (CLD) in 2D.
    • Use Autodesk Inventor to generate Conceptual equipment blocks in 3D.
  • Estimate, using SAP to create cost estimates for custom and manufactured equipment.
  • Generate quotes based on customer needs and quote text library.
  • Create sales presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics CRM to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Drive the sales handover process to the project team upon order receipt.

Required Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in engineering, related technical field, or equivalent experience with food equipment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost estimating or sales engineering.
  • CAD experience including 2D layouts required, 3D experience is a plus.
  • Understand manufacturing methods and predict costs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Frequent travel
  • Experience with FMEA, CRM, and SAP is a plus
